Course 9 is intended to discuss advanced assessment and collection methods including delinquency dates, penalties and interest, tax liens and personal liability and strategies for collecting delinquent taxes and administering installment agreements. It will also discuss seizing personal property, obtaining tax warrants and the seizure and sale of real property. Additionally, the course will discuss delinquent tax suits, including the steps in a delinquent tax suit, petitions, citations, service and ultimately the disposition of a suit.
This course is taught over a 2.5 day period with a review and exam. 18 TACA CE hours will be awarded for completion of this course. Courses with a TDLR approved speaker will be awarded 15 TDLR CE hours.
Course 9 is designed to be taken after Course 8 as an advanced look at collections although Course 8 is not a pre-requisite to register for Course 9, it is recommended that Course 8 be taken prior.
