Purchasing Agent - Ector County Job Opening Job Opening: Purchasing Agent • Ector County, Texas Job Summary The Purchasing Agent supervises departmental staff and assists in carrying out duties as defined in the Local Government Code, Chapter 262, Subchapter B, Section 262.011, and in accordance with the Ector County Fixed Asset and Purchasing Policy and Procedure manuals. Responsibilities and Duties Collaborates with Commissioners’ Court, elected officials, department heads, and staff by preparing agenda items and presentations for Court meetings Prepares and reviews bid specifications and administers the bid process Reviews and enters fixed asset transactions Assists departments with budget requests Supervises the annual auction of surplus property Engages with the public, vendors, and organizations such as other counties, the Texas Association of Counties, and the Texas Legislature Required Qualifications and Skills Bachelor's degree or equivalent with significant coursework in management, accounting, purchasing, or related fields; or any equivalent combination of training and experience providing the required knowledge, skills, and abilities Minimum of five (5) years of occupational experience in public purchasing Experience in performing administrative responsibilities during occupational service Knowledge of State laws, office procedures, ethics, and governmental purchasing practices Benefits Salary based on experience (DOE) Excellent retirement plan through the Texas County and District Retirement System (vests in 8 years) Health, dental, and life insurance benefits for employees and dependents Optional supplemental life insurance, vision, AFLAC, medical transport coverage, and deferred compensation Free Employee Wellness Clinic for employees and eligible dependents 12 paid holidays, plus vacation and sick leave Job Type Full-time Pay $85,100.00 • $100,000.00 per year (based on experience) Application Question(s) Have you ever been convicted of, or pled guilty or no contest to, a felony offense? Job Summary
