Assistant District Attorney - 286th District

Job Summary

This position requires knowledge of all phases of criminal prosecution and law enforcement procedures. It involves daily contact with the public, law enforcement, and the responsibility of handling felony cases from intake through trial.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of felony case prosecution, including case screening, preparation of pleadings, motions, affidavits, probable cause statements, witness preparation, and representing the State of Texas in pretrial proceedings, criminal bench trials, and jury trials.
  • Formulate, justify, and communicate plea offers in felony cases.
  • Perform legal research and writing.
  • Advise law enforcement agencies and officers on criminal law and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Criminal District Attorney.

Education and Experience

  • Graduation from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law in the State of Texas.
