WOOD COUNTY JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: County Court Administrator PAY GRADE: $19.18 - $20.62 depending on experience FLSA; non-exempt SUMMARY OF POSITION: Assist County Judge in statutory, administrative and judicial duties assigned to the County Judge’s Office; Serves as primary clerical support for the County Judge; Works closely with employees of other County departments, representatives of legal offices, and the public in matters before the Court; Maintains, records and schedules appointments ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS: Reports to: County Judge Directs: This is a non-supervisory position Other: Has regular contact with other county employees, employees in other county departments and the general public EXAMPLES OF WORK: Performs direct clerical support services using all functions of the computer, including word processing and spreadsheet software packages; Maintains and updates files and docket entries on a daily basis, including but not limited to trial settings; Performs receptionist duties, including greeting the public, answering the telephone, taking messages, and providing information; Types letters, reports, and memoranda regarding court settings and other office functions; Schedules court dates for pending motions and other filings; schedules court reporters or other resources as necessary for court dates; Examines legal documents presented to the Court for completeness of information, accuracy, and legal format, for review by the County Judge; Performs copying functions using standard office copier. Usage of postage meter and other skills is a necessity; Arranges appointments and meetings for County Judge; maintains files and records and may provide a variety of other clerical support for County Judge; Prepares and copies information for Commissioners’ Court packets; Must establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, the general public, leaders, and public officials at every level; Proficiency in both oral and written communications, with excellent command of grammar, punctuation, and spelling; and Performs other such related duties, as may be assigned by the County Judge. EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: High School Diploma or GED (required); Five years work experience in office environment; Legal terminology, Texas Estates Code, Texas Criminal Procedure, and Texas Civil Procedure (preferred). WORKING CONDITIONS: A professional office environment; Work closely with others and travel from department to department or other office locations in close proximity; May require standing or sitting for prolonged periods of time; Stooping or bending during assigned activities, lifting and carrying light to moderate materials weighing 25 pounds or more. CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED: Hold a current Notary Public certification or obtain one within 30 days of employment; Must have a valid Texas driver’s license.
